Engines

Chevy V-8 Block Casting Numbers:

These numbers are located on the drivers side of the engine, at the back, on the transmission mounting flange. It will be a 6 to 8 digit number code. Example: 3970010.

Chevy V-8 Head Casting Numbers:

The number is located on top of the head, in the center. It will be a 6 to 8 digit code. The code is a number code with the 8 digit being a letter. Usually X. Example: 458642.
